Harlequin Property - Claim for Harlequin Property

Invest in a property on a soon-to-be-built resort in the Caribbean that will make a guaranteed return on investment – this is the sort of sales pitch that was made by Harlequin Property. It attracted thousands of investors.

Many of those invested in the scheme as a SIPP. This was entirely inappropriate, however, given the fact that Harlequin Property was an unregulated investment as well as being one that was high-risk.

If you bought a Harlequin Property SIPP, you may have been mis-sold. It’s time to get your money back.

What Went Wrong with Harlequin Property

People investing in Harlequin Property were investing in planned holiday resorts in the Caribbean. During its selling phase, Harlequin Property was endorsed by several celebrities including sports stars and television personalities.

Around £390 million was invested in the scheme by about 6,000 people. They bought properties in the resorts off-plan, i.e. before construction work had begun. The resorts were supposed to be in places like St Lucia, Barbados, and St Vincent. There was one in Mexico too.

Many of the people who invested did so using a SIPP. They invested because they were promised a guaranteed 10 percent return.

Those returns did not happen, however, and Harlequin Property went bust.

Even more importantly, Harlequin Property should never have been sold as a SIPP investment. This is because it is unregulated and high-risk.
