Investing in overseas property is often a risky venture. What if the business model is something you are familiar with, however? This the situation that faced many people offered an investment called InvestUS.
Whether you understand the business model of the company or not, you may still have been mis-sold your InvestUS pension. This particularly applies if you were not fully aware of the risks associated with such an investment. It also applies if you have a negative attitude towards risk but were convinced to buy this investment anyway.

What Went Wrong with InvestUS?
InvestUS was a US property related investment. It involved purchasing repossessed properties in the US, renovating them, and then either selling them or renting them.
Of course, this is a business that many people in the UK will be familiar with. After all, there are programmes on the television which do something very similar.
Many people invested their pensions into InvestUS via a SIPP. This was on the promise of a 15 percent return in three years.
The returns didn't come, though. This was mostly because of slow to complete renovation work. This delayed profits which, in turn, delayed payments to investors.
The company responsible for completing the renovations appears to be the cause of the problem, but the facts remain – investors have not seen a return on their investment. In addition, many of those investors shouldn't have been sold the pension in the first place because of its high-risk nature and because it was an unregulated investment.
